Darren and I have been back from Europe for a week now, and we miss everything in Paris – especially the bistros and patisseries. So when I came across Le Marais Bakery & Bistro on Instagram, we had to visit right away!
Le Marais Bakery & Bistro has 3 locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, but the one in Castro just opened this past June and that was the one we visited. We are lucky that our schedules are very flexible, so when we were there for lunch at 1:30 pm on a Wednesday afternoon, it wasn’t packed like it would be on the weekends!
We found a table inside by the entrance with a large window, perfect for people-watching on the street and photographing our yummy food!
The bakery/bistro is very bright and airy, and has a lot of window light coming through! All the pastries are in the back and we like the open kitchen concept where you can see the chef preparing your food.
And here is the coffee station:
Darren ordered the Croque Poulet – Mary’s chicken, gruyere and petit salade:
And I had the Rotisserie Poulet – Mary’s free range chicken with fingerling potatoes, broccolini, petit salade and horseradish creme and Harissa Savora mustard:
Even though we were full from our lunch, I couldn’t resist getting some yummy pastries and baked goods to go…
From left to right: Entremet (melon mousse), cucumber melon tart and berry tart!
