We didn’t know what to expect with the Lake Manyara safari as the national park is small and far less visited than the Masai Mara or Serengeti. Two-thirds of the national park is taken up by the lake which stretches along the floor of the Rift Valley. Even though the park is small, it has a lot of diversity ranging from a forest with streams, waterfalls, rivers and ancient trees to a lake with hundreds of flamingos! The park is also famous for the “tree climbing” lions, but sadly, we didn’t see any lions during our trip, but we did see the sea of “pink clouds” of flamingos. It was pretty spectacular!
Our guide, Peter, was very knowledgeable. He was telling us about all the animals and birds that were inhabited in this little park.

One great thing about traveling is you get to meet new friends. Here are Maria and Joel visiting from Chicago, IL!
