The Asilia Olivers Camp in Tarangire Tanzania was the only camp we stayed at during this entire trip that wasn’t part of andBeyond. The dates that we were visiting Tarangire, all of the andBeyond camps were already booked… but it was OK ‘cuz we had such a wonderful time at Olivers Camp.
When we first arrived at the camp, a family of elephants greeted us at the lobby tent. It looked like they were checking out our luggage to make sure everything was up to par! They were just the cutest and we were so in awe!
The elephants were just so comfortable walking around the lobby tent and trying to catch the floral pods on the ground as well as on the roof. It was the most amazing sight ever! Instead of rushing to check into our honeymoon suite, we had such a great experience just observing them and taking in their beauty.
And of course, the baby elephant always gets the most attention!
They were also grazing right by the dining terrace!
This was the lobby tent as we were walking from our honeymoon suite. They wouldn’t let us walk there by ourselves after dark because the path to the lobby tent was also shared with other animals at night, so we had to “call” them with a walkie-talkie from our suite and someone would come escort us to the lobby tent.

This was our honeymoon suite, which was the only tent on this side of the camp with a lot of privacy and quiet time. The other tents were on the other side of the lobby tent!

Our indoor shower:
This was my favorite – our outdoor shower which I used every day when we were there. I mean how often do you get to shower outdoor, right? Darren preferred the indoor one as he didn’t want to be bitten by mosquitoes!
They gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate my birthday:
Our private birthday lunch right on our honeymoon suite deck. It was divine!
During the sundowner, we all gathered around the fire pit and Superti showed us how to make a fire with a stick and some rocks! It was pretty amazing!
The chef made me a special chocolate birthday cake and the staff sang an African birthday song to me. It’d be tough to top that birthday!

Our Camp Manager Julie… she was the sweetest!
