All the food in Italy was soooo delicious! Besides pasta, they also have very good meat and poultry. When Darren and I were in Siena, we had lunch at Antica Osteria Da Divo. The restaurant was located just a block or two from the Piazza Del Campo. It was very convenient.
As we walked into the restaurant, it felt like we were inside a cave with volcanic rock walls. The atmosphere was charming and cozy. We walked down some steps from the main dining area and there was a table for the 4 of us. They had different levels for dining which made this restaurant very unique.
The staff was extremely nice and attentive. A lot of the dishes were actually served table side. Everything looked so good on the menu, so we ordered quite a bit to try.
This was the Sienese Pici on knife beaten Chianina with powdered olives and toasted walnuts. Pici are very thick hand-rolled pasta, like fat spaghetti(or the Japanese Udon noodles). It originates in Siena and it was our first time trying it. We loved it!
The next dish was the Carnaroli Risotto from Maremma with Parmigiano cheese and fresh truffle. Freshly grated truffles are the best!
This was the Phyllo dough roulade filled with duck and in season true morels mushrooms on datterini tomatoes and basil mousse.
The waitstaff brought out the T-bone steak before it was cooked:
And here it was when cooked – Grilled Florentine T-bone steak served with boiled white beans or watercress salad and they served it table side!
