The andBeyond Serengeti Under Canvas Camp was the one camp that I was most excited about on our itinerary because it was a semi-permanent camp and it moved with the migration, which means they set up the tents at different spots every few months! When we talked to our butler, he said each tent would take 6 staff members about an hour to put up. You will see below how each tent was set up.
These were the main dining tent (right) and lounging tent (left) where we had biscuits and afternoon tea each day after our game drive:
The Under Canvas staff singing their welcome song as we arrived at camp:
They handmade a lot of the musical instruments as well:
These were the guest tents:
This was our tent! Again, it looked just like a Polo Ralph Lauren Safari magazine/catalog. Loved the option of washing up outdoor…
How cute were those leather pouches/bags on the side of the folding tables?
Absolutely loved the lining inside of the tent, and our super comfy bed and fluffy beddings:
Our 30-gallon each “his” and “hers” outdoor hot bucket showers – my absolute favorite! We had to tell our butler when we decided to take a shower every day because it would take him 45 minutes to boil the water. These bucket showers made me realize and reminded me how much water we actually used for showers back home. Now we are more conscious about not taking long showers and try to conserve water whenever we can!
Every day (even now) I marveled at the flushable toilet that we had in our ensuite bathroom. Still wondering where everything went when I pulled that lever! Hmmm… 🙂
Our indoor sink and wash basin:
Do you see me sitting in the lounge couch by the tent entrance reading? All the furnishings were so comfortable! Now that is what I call “glamping!”
That was our outdoor shower. Do you see the 2 hot buckets hanging from the top?
What the tent looked like in the evening when everything was lit up. How did they even get electricity out in the bush was beyond me! They even had Wi-Fi setup in the tents although the signal was very weak… but when you are out in the jungle, who needs to be connected to the rest of the world anyways?
They even had reading lights by the bedside! Incredible!
Us at breakfast!
Getting ready for our game drive after breakfast! Ben, our guide, told us that every evening they washed all the Safari vehicles, that’s why they were always so clean when we got in them in the morning!
The dining tent during the day:
The lounging tent during the day… they had really comfy sofas!
Love these lanterns hanging outside the tent:
Yummy afternoon cake and beverage… I could get used to this!
The farewell song when we were getting ready to leave and head to the next camp!
